Louise J. DeLeo, 87, of Lake Winola, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2014, at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Anthony P. DeLeo.
She was born on April 2, 1926, in Scranton, daughter of the late Anthony and Bridgetta Apostalico Berardelli.
Louise graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1944. She was a housewife up until the age of 51 and then entered into Penn State University, Dunmore, along with her son and daughter-in-law, to receive her associate degree in business administration in 1980.
She proudly worked up until the age of 85 at Green Thumb and the Area Agency for the Aging as a job placement specialist.
Mrs. DeLeo was a founding member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Mary of the Church in Lake Winola.
Louise mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her six grandsons, two granddaughters and her great granddaughter. She loved to cook, shop, travel, play cards, attend Broadway shows and be surrounded by friends and family. She was a very loving and caring person and will be deeply missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Grace Fresco.
She is survived by her sons: Anthony of Tunkhannock, Nicholas and wife Donna of Rochester, N.Y., Louis and wife Cindy of Lake Winola, and Robert and wife Kelly of Pittston; and son-in-law James Fresco of Waverly. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Barbara, Tony, Corey, Jimmy, Johnny, Danny, David and Erin; and great granddaughter Ava.
A mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, March 11, from St. Mary of the Lake Church.
Interment was in Pieta Cemetery in Tunkhannock.
