Cecil Titman of Florida formerly of Meshoppen, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, in Lakeland, Fla., after an illness.
He was born March 7, 1922, in Springville, son of the late Raymond and Beatrice Titman. He was a graduate of Springville High School.
Cecil served in the Army on the front lines in World War II, receiving a Purple Heart.
He owned Titman's Market in Meshoppen from 1946 to 1967. He was also a Postal Service worker from 1967 until his retirement in 1984.
He was a member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, American Legion and Shriner's International.
Cecil loved fishing and bowling in his leisure time as well as extensive traveling with his wife, Helen. One of his proudest moments was attending the 50th Anniversary of World War II in Europe.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Helen Williams Titman; a son Harold Titman and his wife Joan of Auburndale, Fla.; a daughter Donna Bouton and her husband Duane of Auburndale, Fla.; six grandchildren: Frank Titman of Las Vegas, Nev., Mark Kiefer of Lake City, Fla., Amy Mitchell of St. Joseph, Mich., Julie Bouton of Orlando, Fla., Sean Steele of Exeter, and Christopher Steele of Springville; and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial Service will be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pastor Thomas Mott of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, 128 Church Rd. Meshoppen, PA 18630.
