Born Geraldine Ruth Tiffany to Wilfred and Mildred Tiffany on Nov. 29, 1926, she was nicknamed "his little chickadee" by her father.
Chickie was married for more than 60 years to Richard S. Hoadley Sr., of Nicholson, until his passing on August 24, 2005.
They enjoyed many years of raising their children, helping to build a church in Nicholson, and fishing, camping, spending time at their cabin and even riding their motorcycle into their senior years. They had many friends and had a way of making everyone feel special.
Throughout her life, her faith in the Lord guided her life choices. Everyone who knew her, felt this sweet, sincere kindness that she expressed in so many ways. Chickie was an accomplished seamstress, a great cook, a hard working homemaker, church worker, Sunday school teacher, missionetts leader, Cub and Boy Scout den mother, and a beautiful example of a Christian wife and mother, Her children know that they had a blessed childhood.
She lived in the Hoadley homestead on State Street in Nicholson until August of 2006 when she moved to the White Haven area, to be close to her two children and their spouses. In the years to follow she slowed down and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful time living close to her son, Dick Hoadley Jr. and his wife Lynn, and her daughter, Phyllis and her husband George "Shinny" Shinglock. She enjoyed simple things like feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, sitting on her porch, talking with old friends, reading and just being quiet.
Chickie is survived by her son, Richard S. Hoadley Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lynn Hoadley, White Haven; her daughter, Phyllis Hoadley Shinglock and son-in-law, George "Shinny" Shinglock, also of White Haven; a sister, Phyllis Snyder, of Florida; brother Larry Tiffany and his wife, Phyllis, of Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her children would especially like to thank her caregiver family, Carol, Mark and Tessa who loved and cared for her as their own. For her friends Chris and Kaley who visited regularly and loved her as well. And to her many lifelong friends who faithfully called, wrote, visited and did so many kind things for her over the years. Thank you Lillian for always making her laugh. Thank you to everyone at Hospice Community Care/Celtic, she loved you.
We are sad for her to leave us, but we rejoice in knowing she is with the Lord and reunited with her loving husband and those that have gone on before her. Her earthly journey is over, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
In memory of Chickie, please share a special kindness or a helping hand to someone in need. This is what she would ask of you.
No services are scheduled upon her request. Her ashes will be joined with her husband privately.
