Louis H. Avery, 74 of Mill City (Overfield Township), died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in the Community Medical Center in Scranton.
He was born in Mill City on May 26, 1934, son of the late Harry and the late Alice Black Avery.
He worked as a truck driver and prior to his retirement he was employed by Haddon Craftsman in Scranton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Smith, and sisters, Eleanor Ball and Gladys Radle.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Williamette Shearer; sons Louis Eugene Avery of Bernsville and James Lee Avery of Dalton; sister Joyce Watermen of Dalton; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with the Pastor Paul J. Fields, Pastor of the Factoryville Baptist Church.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola.
