Maryon Hodgson Gibbs, 101, of Dunellen, N.J., died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home in Green Brook, N.J.

She was born on May 12, 1912, in Factoryville, to Earl F. and Mabel Clayton Gibbs.
She was raised in Factoryville and was the last surviving graduated in her 1929 class at the high school.
Mrs. Gibbs moved to Newark. N.J., in 1939 and in 1956 to Mountainside until 1973 at her retirement. She then moved to Bangor and later to Albrightsville where she resided until moving to Dunellen in 2006.
She worked at Strong Cobb Pharmaceuticals in New Providence for many years, retiring in 1973. Mrs. Gibbs enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and also enjoyed cooking, canning, crocheting and crafts. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albrightsville.
She was the wife of the late George Hartley Gibbs who died in 1995 and the mother of the late Malcolm and Carlton Gibbs; the sister of the late Louise Hodgson, Doris Apgar, Reba Brown and James Hodgson.
Surviving is a daughter, Marilyn Romano and her husband Richard of Dunellen; two grandchildren, Scot Romano (Heidi) and Cheryl Romano; one great-grandson, Joseph A. Romano.
A service will be held at the Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen, N.J., on Thursday, May 30, at 11 a.m.
Interment of her cremated remains will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Dalton at a later date.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
