REGINA MCGAVIN

Regina M. McGavin, 83, of Meshoppen, passed away on Christmas Day, Monday afternoon, Dec. 25, 2017, at her home with her daughter Sharon by her side.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1934, in Binghamton, N.Y., the daughter of the late Anthony and Julia Gudauskaus Charno.

She was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School with the class of 1953.

Regina married the late John A. McGavin on July 19, 1958, and together they owned and operated their family farm on McGavin Road in Auburn township, Meshoppen.

She was a member of the St. Bonaventure and St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Susquehanna County 4-H. She enjoyed to knit, crochet, garden, and travel. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

Regina is survived by her daughters: Sharon McGavin of Meshoppen, and Lorraine McGavin Rumbarger and her husband David of Corning, N.Y.; her sister-in-law Katherine Williamson of Chalfont; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John A. McGavin (d. May 1, 2009) and her brother Alger Charno.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Regina was held on Thursday morning, Dec. 28, from St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, Meshoppen, with Father Joseph Manarchuck, of the church officiating. Interment followed at St. Bonaventure's Cemetery, in Auburn.
