William Roger Dymond of Olyphant passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the Hospice Unit in Dunmore.
Roger was born on Nov. 18, 1945, son of the late William R. and Mary June Dymond of Mehoopany.
Roger attended Tunkhannock Area Schools and graduated in 1963. He was then accepted into the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Texas for most of his time. Upon returning home, Roger worked various jobs in the area, including the Bechtel Corporation, along with his father in the building of the Procter & Gamble plant in Mehoopany. Roger also worked as a well driller in the local area.
He then moved his family to Ocklawaha, Fla., and spent many years as a building contractor running his own company. Later in his life he returned to Pennsylvania and drove truck for various companies along with his traveling man's best friend, Jigger.
Although his time with his entire family may not have been much, he wanted them to know how very much he loved them all.
Roger is survived by his four children: sons, Bill Dymond of Olyphant, and Timothy Dymond and his wife Shelly of Florida, and daughters, Jennifer Flanigan and husband of Florida, and Maren Visavati and husband Ken of Dimock. Also surviving are his brother, Frances (Abe) Dymond and his wife Nell of Ripon, Wisc.; his sister, Cheryl Ferris and her husband Barry of Laceyville; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his friend and companion for many years, Judy Abrams, and his beloved and faithful co-pilot/best friend Jigger.
Roger was preceded by a sister, Anna Lucille Teel in October of 2006.
Per Roger's wishes, there will be no services and the family will celebrate his life and wishes at a later date.
