Amparo (Pearl) Macedonio, 90, of Factoryville, died Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2013, at her home. Her husband, the late Angelo J. Macedonio, died May 20, 2009.
Pearl was born in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Oct. 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Augusto and Amparo (née Huguet) Velez-Colon.
Pearl was with the St. Aidan Rosary Society, Williston Park, N.Y. She volunteered as an Air Raid Warden during World War II; she was a Nurses Aid with the American Red Cross and did millinery work while living in Canarse, N.Y.
She was a devoted wife, and a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Carmine, who died in Vietnam in 1970.
Surviving are five daughters: Marina and husband Roger Sewall of Fleetville, Mary and husband Robert Fisher of Levittown, N.Y., Catherine Kelly of Levittown, N.Y., Anna and husband Carl Jenkins of Tunkhannock, and Pearl Macedonio of Factoryville; four sons: Philip and wife Marilyn (deceased) of Hicksville, N.Y., Angelo, New Port Richey, Fla., Anthony of Factoryville, and Frank and wife Ronda of Tunkhannock; 23 grandchildren: MSgt. John Mory (Ret.), Angela Walter, and Anne Hoopingarner; David, Lisa, Robert, Tommy and Phillip Macedonio; Christopher, Brian and Robert Fisher; Angelo, JoAnna, Marie, Carmine and Justin Macedonio; John Kelly; Nicole Macedonio; Mandy and Bailey Hansen; Lindsey Macedonio; Carl and Gabrielle Jenkins; and many great grandchildren.
Calling hours took place Tuesday night at the Anthony P. Litwin Funeral Home 33 Reynolds St., Factoryville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Traditional Home Health and Hospice 113 W Drinker St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Lake Winola. Friends may go directly to church.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
