Ashley, Joyce Boyd - Red Bay, Al.  
RED BAY, Ala. – Joyce Boyd Ashley, 78, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Golden. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at New Union Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, Ala. Burial will follow at Halltown Cemetery, Vina. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Ausbern, Viva - Okolona  
OKOLONA – Mrs. Viva Jean Ausbern, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona following an extended illness. She was born in Collinwood, Tenn., on June 5, 1934, to Jim Brown and Ethel Burks Brown. She married George Ausbern in March, 1951, and worked as a supervisor in the furniture industry for many years. She was a member of Egypt Baptist Church. Her hobby was reading. Her life was about her home, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 16, 2014, in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Pastor Tony Rooks officiating assisted by Donna Jeffries, Eulogist. A graveside service will follow at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. to service time. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, George Ausbern of Okolona; one daughter, Maisie Walls (Roy) of Okolona; two sons, Dennis Ausbern (Debbie) of Nettleton and Terry Ausbern (Elizabeth) of Houston; three sisters, Earline Rae of Houston, Willie Mae Jones of Okolona, and Mazie Allen (Claude) of Detroit, Ala.; six grandchildren, Den Ausbern (Nicole), DeeDee Bailey (Kevin), Candice Walls, Emme Ausbern, Wilkes Crosthwait, and Gray Crosthwait; two great-grandsons, Chip Ausbern, B.J. Bailey and Coleton Ausbern; a host of nieces, nephews, and other near relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alfred Brown. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Memorials may be made to Egypt Baptist Church, Memorial Pew Marker Fund, 3344 CR 406, Okolona, MS 38860. BAKER, GLENDA - Amory  
AMORY – Glenda Jean Baker, 51, died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on Oct. 22, 1963, in Amory, Monroe County, she was the daughter of Lola Mae Baker. Glenda was a member of Carter's Chapel Faith Temple, better known as Power House No.1. She graduated from Hatley High School in 1982, where she played basketball for a while. She loved to watch college and pro football, and wrestling on TV. Also, she loved and enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, Rifleman and Daniel Boone, enjoyed reading her Bible to the family and her church family. She was formerly employed at Phillips Lighting of Tupelo and the First Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be today, Dec. 16, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Carter's Chapel Church with Pastor James O. Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the United Memorial Garden Cemetery. Darden & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. She is survived by her mother, Lola Mae Baker of Amory; one daughter, Patronia Sanqunetta James of Amory; one sister, Laraine (Willie) Daniel of Amory; two grandchildren, Zole Nymir James and Peria S'Kai James. She was preceded in death by her father, Limmie Lee Baker and one brother, Ron Christopher Baker. There will be no visitation.

Barnes, Evie - Iuka, Mississippi  
IUKA – Evie Barnes, 94, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Antioch Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible every single day, both Old and New Testaments. She read the 23rd Psalm to start, and read the entire Bible every single year. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for noon on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Acey Floyd and Bro. Mike Edwards. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jimmy Barnes, Joey Barnes, Jerry Barnes, Johnny Barnes, David Coburn and Danny Coburn. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include one son, Edward Barnes of Iuka; two daughters, Marie Floyd (William Earl) and Betty Jean Barnes, both of Iuka; two brothers, Donald Bacon of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Johnny Bacon (Annette) of Rogersville, Ala.; two sisters, Jewel Coburn of Florence, Ala., and Beatrice Hopper of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren, Anthony Floyd (Pat) of Iuka, Chris Barnes of Columbia, South America, and Cyndi Barnes of Corinth; and one great-grandchild, Acey Floyd (Chelsea) of New Albany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshel Barnes; her parents, George and Emma Bacon; her brothers, G.W. and J.H. Bacon; and her sister, Willa Crowell. CORINTH – Bernice P. Barnett, 85, died Dec. 16, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Mason St. Luke M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Sunday.

Baxter, Jimmy - Baldwyn  
BALDWYN – Jimmy R. Baxter, 78, passed away December 19, 2014, at the NMMC. He was a retired cattle farmer and car dealer. He was an avid MSU sports fan,and a member of First Baptist Church in Baldwyn and he was completely devoted to his family. Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery. He is survived by a daughter, Genny Pearson (Andy) of New Albany; two sons, Jimmy ""Rawdy"" Baxter (Becky) of Tupelo and John Baxter of Baldwyn; sister, Mary Kate Smith of Saltillo; mother of his children, Marian Baxter; grandchildren, Bo Baxter (Lane), Ben Baxter (Jenni), Brent Baxter (Kayla), Drew Pearson and Emma Pearson; great-grandchildren, Kate and Caroline Baxter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Quitman and Ethel Bennett Baxter; brother, Charles Baxter; sisters, Wyna Russell, Bea Grissom, Maxine McKay and Abbigale Baxter. His grandsons and nephews will serve as his pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Weatherford, Henry Outlaw, Robert Thomas, Dan Gardner and John Olen Cunningham. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time at Waters Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watersfuneralservice.com.
