PHILADELPHIA – James M. Fields, 76, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. He was born May 27, 1937, in Maben, the son of the late O.D. and Cora Mae Langford Fields. He worked in maintenance at General Tire in Columbus for 32 years. He was a Baptist. He married Margret Schmidt Fields in September 1984 in Columbus.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with Pastor Bobby Richardson officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Margret S. Fields of Philadelphia; two sons, James Rex Fields of Safford, Ariz., and John Wesley Fields of Columbus; 10 grandchildren, Summer Williams, Chase Fields, Lakyn Fields, Layton Fields, Dalton Fields, John Gavin Fields, Sarah Landwer, Billy Landwer, Sarina Duwe and Jamison Duwe; and five great-grandchildren, Tony Williams, Austin Williams, Giovonnie Romani, Lofton Duwe and Preston Duwe.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Fields, Layton Fields, John Fields, Rex Fields, Chase Fields and Tony Williams.
