RIPLEY – Mattie Bullock White Ray, 76, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. She was born Dec. 6, 1937, to Rucker and Leola Garrison Bullock. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ripley. She loved people and doing crafts. She worked in sales, and she worked with Mississippi Baptist Convention for several years and with Senior Adult Craft Ministry. Later, she worked with the Sunday school board in several chapters with senior adults. She was an active member in Mississippi Campers on Mission, and she was active in Mississippi Disaster Relief and in Mission Service Corp through North American Mission Board. She had to give it up due to her health in 2011.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rex Yancey and Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Garden. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Thrasher (Bobby) of Ripley; one sister, Nellie Hill (Billy Joe) of Ripley; two brothers, Arnold Bullock of Ripley and Bonnie Ray Bullock (Vicki) of Jumpertown; six grandchildren, Carmen Goforth, Shawn Thrasher, Brandie Mauney (Chris), Casey White, Matthew Thrasher and Gerry Goforth, all of Ripley; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Keith Bullock, Jerry Rhodes, Timmy Bullock, Chris Mauney, Gerry Goforth and Scott Bullock.
Honorary pallbearers will be the J.O.Y. Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Lamar White and James Ray; one son, Danny White; one sister, Ellen Clark; and one brother, Jessie Bullock.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
