RIPLEY – William Hugh ""Bill"" White, 78, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at his home in Ripley. He was born on April 23, 1936, to Elbert Arnold and Mary Victoria Griffin White in Tippah County. He was captain of the Memphis Police Department, retiring with 30 years of service. he was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Ripley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, April 26, at Fellowship Baptist Church. Bro. Bill Baker will officiate and Alyson White will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Euwilda Turner White of Ripley; one daughter, Becky Reaves of Ripley; two sons, Jimmy Arnold White (Jana) of Collierville, Tenn., and David William White (Caren) of New Braunfels, Texas; five grandchildren, Lysette Jackson (Justin) of Ripley, Brett Reaves of Ripley, Alyssa White of Collierville, Tenn., Kayla White of Collierville, Tenn., and Hugh White of New Braunfels, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Griffin, Harper and Oliver; one stepdaughter, Sandra Elder )Jerry) of Ripley; five stepgrandchildren, Tim Hill of Ripley, Randy Hill of Ripley, Pam Bennett of Florence, Ala., Lynn Rowell of Ripley and Michael Elder of Ripley; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen Marie Thomas White; three sisters, three brothers; and one stepdaughter, Carol Hill.
Pallbearers will be Phil Witt, Arnold Witt, Brett Reaves, Randy Hill, Lee Allan Bridges and Jerry Elder.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Fellowship Baptist Church.
