1925 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
PONTOTOC – Stella Renfrow, 88, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at her home in Pontotoc. She was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Yazoo County to Dumas and Lizzie Adams. She was a lifelong resident of Canton until 1994 when she moved to Pontotoc after her husband of 49 years, Leroy, passed away. She was a committed Christian, wife and mother. She was baptized by the Rev. Sollie Smith and a member of Center Terrace Baptist Church in Canton, then moved her letter to First Baptist Church Pontotoc. Nothing gave her more pleasure than to visit with and cook for her family. She was a prayer warrior and loved to send cards to the sick. She was affectionately called ""GG"" by her great-grandchildren. She has traveled all over the country and loved every minute of it, but was always glad to get home.
She is survived by two daughters, Gwen Renfrow of Pontotoc and Mary Booker of Byram; three sons, Don (Joan) of San Jose, Calif., Tom (Teresa) of Columbus, Ga., and Jeff (Suzanne) of Ridgeland; 12 grandchildren, Donna Akers (Grant), Jalane Householder, both of Pontotoc, Rob Renfrow (Brenda) of Manteca, Calif., John Renfrow (Lucy) of Clinton, Rusty Aster of Newport Beach, Calif., Aaron Aster (Jenny) of Fresno, Calif., Lance Renfrow and Heather Renfrow, both of Columbus, Ga.,, Ashlee Bunch (Derrick) of Gluckstadt, Eric Renfrow of Ridgeland, Micheal Booker of Jackson, Shiloh Booker of San Marcos, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, Georgia and Rhett Akers, Annalisa Householder, Austin Renfrow, Kelsi Cresap, Caiden and Layla Miley, Sophia Booker, Luke and Nate Renfrow, Gage and Gavin Aster, Ty and Aaron Teal, and her namesake Stella Kate Bunch; and one brother, Norman Adams (Martha Bell) of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Renfrow; a daughter, Cheryl Dean; a son, Douglas Steven; four brothers, Melvin, Lamar, Billy and David Adams; and two sisters, Mamie McCurdy and Linnie Kate Davis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, April 19, at Culpepper Funeral Home in Canton. Burial will follow in Canton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
