I terribly sorry to read of Sid's passing. I used to correspond and talk with him regularly as a friend of Scotty Moore's. On behalf of Scotty, Gail, myself and I'm sure the many fans we'd like to express our deepest sympathies.

What a great man. I knew him from second grade. His wife MaryAnn was my Mom's best friend. Now, his daughter and I are best friends. Great great family. Mr. Lapworth is now in heaven with most of the St. Gregory's Mens Choir. I'm sure they're singing up a storm. I still listen to their music on tape and miss it dearly. To all of the Lapworth family. My dearest condolances. I will totally miss him and his music, his sense of humor and his grits but he still lives on in all of you. From my heart to all of yours.

I always enjoyed what little time I spent around Sid as he was married to my Aunt Lois. I remember and appreciate his band playing at my wedding reception in Dayton many years ago. A great guy who will be missed by many.

Uncle Sid was a great Uncle. Although we lived in different cities and didn't see each other often, he was always really nice and fun to be around. He once threw me in the swimming pool in his backyard when I was like 4 years old. I remember seeing a home movie of it. When I saw him at a family reunion 40+ years later he apologized for it!
I also like talking to him and hearing his music stories. As a musician myself, we had fun talking about it. He would also tell stories about my Dad before he was married when he was courting my Dad's sister and his future wife, Mary.
I am especially impressed that he continued to play his trombone and do gigs well past 80. A true inspiration to us all.
You will be missed, Uncle Sid.

Susie and I were privileged to know the Lapworth family while you kids were "growing up" in Newark. Your father will long be remembered for his wit, kindness and musicianship, especially his dedication to the cause of keeping traditional church music alive as director of the St. Gregory Men's Choir. He was best known as an instrumentalist, but was equally talented as a vocal musician. He will be lovingly remembered in our prayers for the rest of our days. God bless him and all of you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. I have know Sid for many years. He played bass with my Father in Laws band -Bruno Masdea and later he played in my band at Denison University where he was respected and loved by all our students. Remembering the good old days, and boy were they good old days, on North 5th Street in Newark, Ohio. The neighborhood wasn't the same without all the Lapworth's. Your dad looks fabulous. Great picture!

So sorry to hear of Sid's passing. He was always strong and determined but had a great sense of humor. He was a pleasure to work with in therapy at Whetstone. I will miss him.

Sid was one of my favorite people. I sang in Trombone's Plus for about 9 years and always enjoyed Sid's humor and supportive comments. His long music career was the source of many colorful stories. I will miss him. I'm sorry I cannot be there as I now live in New York, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
