Carl E. Miner
NEWARK: A funeral service for Carl E. Miner, 90, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksontown Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Miner retired after 30 years as a gage inspector from Rockwell International. He passed away December 5, 2013, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. He was born August 9, 1923, in Newark, to the late Charles L. Miner and Bessie M. (Harris) Coventry.
Mr. Miner was WWII Army
Veteran. He a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, lifetime member of United Ancient Order of the Druids Grove #41, and a life member of VFW
Buckeye Lake Post #1388.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lillian Irene (Richardson) Miner; sons, Kenneth R. (Bette) Miner of Texas, Mike (Dianna) Miner of Newark, and Jack Lautenschlager Thornville; daughters, Sandy Rees of Newark and Sue (Robert) Headley of Floral City, FL; brother, David (Dixie) Coventry of Newark; sisters, Vera Close of Newark, Shirley (Harold) Goodin of Newark, and Betty (Daniel) Ferrell of Newark; 31 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren; 56 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Patricia Wolfe and Sandy Landis; one brother, and two sisters; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 1st wife of 28 years, Eathel Mae (Gallagher) Miner; step-father, Clyde Coventry; son-in-law, Joe Rees; daughter-in-law, Wilma Lautenschlager, and special friends, Harry and Jean Pierce.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, where a Druid's service will begin at 5 p.m.
