NEWARK: A funeral service for Cleo G. Benedict, 82, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Judy Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Cleo, a retired assistant auditor, for the State of Ohio, passed away August 29, 2013, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. She was born February 9, 1931, in Newark, to the late John Finley and Lela M. (Coon) Holton.

She was a life long member of Woodside Presbyterian Church, and past president of the Democratic Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Bill) Barton of Newark, Cindy (Chuck) Hiles of Thornville, and Brenda (Rick) Bobo of Newark; siblings, Bernard (Lorene) Holton, Sueann (Fred) Dixon, Judy (Dick) Taylor, and Connie (Gene) McLaughlin all of Newark; grandchildren, Jeffrey Simpson, Brandi Garett, Chad Simpson, Josslyn Barton, Carrie Ford, Melissa Nichols, Amanda Howard, Joshua Bobo, and Brittany Campbell; fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Tim Holton.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.
