NEWARK: A funeral service for Dorothy M. Maddux will be held at 11AM, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street in Newark. David Hallenbeck will officiate. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call from 6-8PM, on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maddux was born April 23, 1921, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Arthur F. and Eva (Gamble) Hormuth and passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center in Newark. She was a 1939 graduate of Newark High School and on March 29, 1941, she married Carl W. Maddux who passed away in 1980. For many years she worked at the Plantation Room and later at the Natoma Restaurant in downtown Newark.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy (Frosty) Heskett of Newark; five grandchildren, David (Arletta) Ruton of Buckeye Lake, Julie Anne Ruton of Newark, Jennifer (Don) Fisher of Pickerington, Brian (Patty) Maddux of Seattle, Washington, Kristin (Rob) Johnson of Newark; step grandchildren, Leanette Long of Belmont, Ohio, Mike Heskett of Newark; five great-grandchildren, Brittany (Brandon), Ashlynn, Cara, Michael, Ian; four step great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Brandy, Annie and four step great-great- grandchildren; a daughter in law, Karen (Robert) Tennant of Lancaster and special friends Francis (Pat) Hinger of Newark.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald C. Maddux in 1995 and three infant siblings.
