NEWARK: A funeral service for Edmond Borders, age 77, of Heath, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21th St., Newark with Pastor Brad Kittle officiating. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. in Gardner Cemetery, Waverly, OH.
Mr. Borders passed away March 5, 2014 at Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born January 13, 1937, in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Woodrow Borders and Ruby (Jackson) Borders Grubaugh. Edmond was a Western High School graduate. Mr. Borders served in the United States Navy
during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a press operator for American National Can Company. He enjoyed taking yearly fishing trips to Canada. Edmond "affectionately known as Eddie Crocker" was a great cook and famous for his Apple Brownies. Mr. Borders volunteered with the Salvation Army. He loved to spend time with his neighbors, and always offered his help, along with a pocket-full of butterscotch candy.
He is survived by his daughters, DeLaina Borders, of Hilliard, OH and Brandi (Gary) Ramsey, of Heath, OH; One Step Son, Ron (Lesley) Hottinger, of Newark, OH; One Brother, Kenneth Richard (Kathy) Grubaugh, of; Newark, OH; One Sister, Lulu Mae Schneider, of Columbus, OH; Nine Grandchildren: Nathan, Jeremy, Kaitlyn, Tristan, Jordynne, Ryleigh, Lexsey, Gage and Graylan; One Great Grandson, Logan; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karren; Three Brothers, Earl, Walter and Carmet Borders; Step-Father, Forrest Grubaugh; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Walter and Ethel Andrews; Grandparents, Buren and Ida Jackson.
Friends may call, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Edmond's name be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430 Newark, OH 43058-0430.
