Francis "Frank" Henry Bentz
NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis "Frank" Henry Bentz, age 76, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 66 Granville Street, Newark.
Frank passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his home in Newark. He was born July 26, 1937 in Newark to the late Francis Henry Bentz, Sr. and Jeannette M. (Barry) Bentz.
Frank graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School with the class of 1955. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Francis de Sales his entire life, where he was active in many ministries. Among these he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served the parish through membership in St. Vincent de Paul and the Home Sponsor Program. Frank attended The Ohio State University
, worked at Emersons Men's Clothing, Newark Advocate (advertising department), was the owner of Alten's Southgate Men's Wear, manager of The Union Department Store, VP of Sales at Mid-Ohio Development Corp and Shai Commercial Real Estate.
He was a member of the Heath Kiwanis Club, Newark Jaycees, Newark Lions Club, Mental Health of America (Board), Granville Rotary Club
(Paul Harris Fellow), International Council of Shopping Centers (State Legislation Chairman), CCIIR, Licking County Board of Realtors, National Realtors Board, Ohio Realtors Board, Buckeye Lake Yacht Club (Governor), and Moundbuilders Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan (Hipsher); two daughters and sons-in-law, S. Kathleen (Joe) Gilmore and Adrienne M. (Scot) Evans; nine grandchildren, Joseph K. Gilmore III, Kathryn Marie Gilmore, Laura Ann Gilmore, Colleen Jeannette Gilmore, Oliver Barry Evans, Tucker Daniel Evans, Danielle Jude Evans, Granger O'Neill Evans and Slater Francis Tynan Evans; one great-granddaughter, Skyler Rose Gilmore; two sisters, Mary Estelle Ehret and Barbara (Dr. Charles) Sinsabaugh; two brothers-in-law, Donald A. (Joan) Hipsher and Jeffrey C. (Martha Jo) Hipsher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Reverend John Barry Bentz; two brothers-in-law, William S. Ehret and Philip DeVol.
Memorial contributions may be made to Newark Catholic Foundation or St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery.
