Gene R. Bailey
HEATH: A Mass of Christian Burial for Gene R. Bailey, 73, of Heath, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 16, 2012 with Fr. Michael Reis officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Private Inurnment services will be held in West Brookfield Cemetery, Massillon, Ohio.

Veteran, died at Newark Healthcare Centre on Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was born in Canton, Ohio on May 16, 1938 to the late Charles and Pauline (Frenz) Bailey.
Gene worked as the chief regional dispatcher for AEP and retired after 41 years of service. He was an active parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church where he was manager of maintenance and was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 12641. Gene was also an avid volunteer for many years with Hospice of Central Ohio and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Matthew and Lorrie Bailey of Lancaster, Theresa and Aaron Ponzani of Westerville, Scott and Suzi Bailey of Mt. Vernon, and Dr. Pamela Dull of Hebron; his seven grandchildren, Marcus, Tabitha, Owen, Morgan, Ruthie, Patrick, and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Sam) Bailey; his son, Mark Bailey; his brother, Charles Bailey; and his sisters, Faye Kosht and Dorothy Miller.
Friends and family may call from 3-7 P.M., Sunday, January 15, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Ohio 43055, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M. An honor guard will be provided by the Knights of Columbus Council #12641 and they will also lead the Rosary following the Vigil Service.
