Gerald "Red" Davis

MARTINSBURG: Gerald "Red" Davis, age 81, of Martinsburg, passed away on September 17, 2013 at Columbus Colony Elderly Care.

He was born on September 27, 1931 in Utica to the late Earl and Myrtle (Clark) Davis. Red was a retired oil and gas driller in the Knox and Licking County area. He enjoyed his woodworking and nature. His passion was the outdoors and loved watching birds. Red was an avid OSU and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a former Martinsburg Town Council member and had worked for the Martinsburg Head Start School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maxine Davis; and his son, Randall Davis of New Albany; also surviving is his brother, Raymond (Gwen) Davis of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Red was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Gene and James Davis.

Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10AM. Burial with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veteran's Council will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.
