John R. Watson
HEATH: A private graveside service for John R. Watson of Heath will be held at a later date at Wilson Cemetery.
John was born on January 12, 1938 in Zanesville to the late George Raymond and Irene May (Bowlby) Watson. He passed away on Friday February 15, 2013 at his home. He was 75.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; sister, Jean Boring; and brother, Charles Watson.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Evelyn (James) Laughery, Robert (Becky) Darnes and William (Susan) Darnes; sister, Joan Pollock of Zanesville; brothers in law, Robert (Mona) Schneider and William (Kaye) Schneider; sisters in law, Karen (Robert) Meier, India (Daniel) Oestriecher, and Alma Sellars; sister-in-law, Cheryl Schneider; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Jeremy, Mason, Madison and Corey; four great grandchildren; his loving dog, Ginnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was a graduate of the Zanesville HS class of '57, served in the US National Guard for over 30 years, including the Central Supply Warehouse in Newark. He was very proud of his service with the National Guard, and was a member of the retirement group, where he kept in contact with other members.
John was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and the OSU Buckeyes. He collected "N" gauge model railroads, was a fan of reality shows, and loved dogs, who in return gave him love also. John also belonged to the Druids and played on several card clubs.
