Julia Lee Wheeler

GRANVILLE: Julia Lee Wheeler, age 83, of Granville, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was born February 10, 1929 in Newark, Ohio to the late John and Jessie Mae (Kimble) Styers.

Julia retired from NASA in 1987 after 25 years of service at the Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Florida. Her career as an executive assistant in communications began with the Mercury manned space program and ended during the Space Shuttle program. After her retirement, her passions included quilting and embroidery. She was a member of the Heart of Ohio Quilter's Guild, and loved the creativity and friendships that quilting and embroidery brought to her life.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerald A. Wheeler; son, Mike (Barbara) Wheeler of Cocoa, Florida; daughter, Cynthia (Charles) Greasby of Nixa, Missouri; grandchildren, Caitlin Wheeler, Shannon (Jason) Coyle and Ryan (Priscilla) Greasby; great-grandchildren, Hayden Coyle, Kyliegh Coyle, Nathan Coyle and Sarah Greasby.

According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service observed.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
