NEWARK: A funeral service for Lila Mae Kirkpatrick, age 83, of Newark will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Lila passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). She was born January 7, 1930 to the late Harry Aldous and Anne (Shull) Brooks.

Lila was a 1948 graduate of Thornville High School. After graduation, she worked for A & P and Big Bear as a cashier. She owned her own restaurant, "Lila's" which she sold in the 1960's. She then became a full time homemaker. After her husband Wayne died, she worked with the Licking County Aging Program from 1978 to 1990. Lila was a quiet, modest and sweet person.

She is survived by two daughters, Lila Ann Mitchell of Heath and Lora Kay Kirkpatrick of Newark; one son, Wayne Kirkpatrick II of Newark; daughters-in-law, Kay Leaman and Rhonda Kirkpatrick; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Junior Kirkpatrick; two sons, Wayne Jay Kirkpatrick II and Lewis Lindy Leaman; and brother, Myron Bill Brooks.

The family would like to thank Licking Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Central Ohio for all the great care of their beloved Mother.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
