FRAZEYSBURG: Lueva Lauer, 90, of Nashport, Ohio died Friday evening, December 14, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.
Born June 25, 1922 in Frazeysburg, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Walter "Bert" Fairall and Aleatha B. Hickinbotham Fairall Leger. Lueva was a 1940 graduate of Lash High School and she attended Merideth Business College. She had been employed at the Ohio Plastics Company in Frazeysburg, Essex Wire plant on Ceramic Avenue, and Stambaugh's of Zanesville. She and her father provided audio system services for indoor and outdoor programs through Lauer Sound System.
Lueva was a performer. Her father taught her acrobatics and she performed for many family and public functions as a child. She danced and was a teacher for Marjorie Holzschuher Sellers, who recommended her to the dance team of Collette and Barry. During the 1940's she danced for the team on a night club circuit where she met many famous entertainers; Jackie Gleason, Danny Kaye, Sid Caesar, Imogene Coca, Artie Shaw, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Victor Mature and Henry Fonda to name a few.
She performed in the Frazeysburg Lion's Club shows with her children and she sang tenor in Frazeysburg United Methodist church choir. She was a former choir director at Frazeysburg United Methodist Church and at Forest Avenue Presbyterian Church of Zanesville. Lueva was bass singer in the OUZ chorus with Marcia Herman, the Greater Zanesville Chorus with Glenville Thomas, and the Sweet Adeline Chorus. She was part of the Zane Jill's Barbershop Quartet in which she also sang bass.
Lueva was a hard working person who was a great mother, dedicated daughter to her parents and grandparents, and a reliable friend to her family. She enjoyed reading and was talented at crocheting, especially afghans.
Surviving is a daughter and son in-law Hinda and James Ardrey of Nashport; a son and daughter in-law, Leon and Ebba Lauer of Nashport; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ardrey, Devin (Lucinda) Ardrey, Ian Lauer, and Kiel Lauer; and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Ardrey.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step father, Henry Leger, and an infant son, Ian Lauer.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the funeral home with Lay Minister Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
