Luther "Lou" Fetters

JOHNSTOWN: Luther "Lou" Fetters, 91, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully at Bennington Glen Nursing Home, Marengo, OH.

Funeral services will be 2 PM on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Johnstown, OH, with Pastor Tom Tucker, Jack Fetter, and AJ McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown, OH., with Military Honors.

Mr. Fetters was born on March 18, 1921 in Bradford, OH to the late Raymond and Viola (Rhoades) Fetter. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater as a USMC pilot. He grew up on a farm in Bradford, Ohio. After serving in the military, Luther worked as a salesman for Ralston Purina for fifteen years. In 1961, he and his wife, Margaret purchased the Johnstown Elevator. They operated the Feed Mill and Propane Gas Business until 1986 when they sold the business to their son, Brent. Luther continued to work with his son until retiring in 2011. He enjoyed working with the Johnstown and surrounding communities for fifty years.

Luther was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. (Crowel) Fetters; parents; brother, Lawson, sister-in-law, Eugenia; daughter, Kay J. McClanahan; son-in-law, Bob McPherson.

Survived by his son, Brent (Terri) of Johnstown daughter, Karen (Jerry) York, son, Craig (Hazel) both of FL., daughter, Gail McPherson of Pataskala; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren with one expected soon; two nephews, Jack and Jim Fetter.

Luther was a member of the Johnstown United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the funeral home from 4 to 8 PM.
