Marilyn V. Pitcher
GRANVILLE: The life of Marilyn V. Pitcher, 73, of Granville, will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville St., Newark, with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
Marilyn, an owner and treasurer at a local family business, CP Adhesives, passed away August 30, 2013 at home.
She was born September 25, 1939 to the late Myron and Emma (Meservey) Vosburgh in Sharon, Connecticut.
As a youth she was an active member of the Webutuck Grange, the Sharon Methodist Church and a member of the graduating class of 1957, Housatonic Valley Regional High School. She graduated from the University of Connecticut's nursing program and became a registered nurse in 1961. She spent 34 years in nursing as a Visiting Nurse in Lansdale, Pennsylvania and later with the public health departments of Johnson County, Kansas and Licking County, Ohio. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Lansdale Pennsylvania and Indian Heights United Methodist Church, Overland Park, Kansas. After retiring from nursing in 1995 she devoted herself to a second career in the family business.
Marilyn enjoyed traveling the country with husband, Kent, in their motorhome as well as touring the back roads via motorcycle. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kent Pitcher of Granville; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Sharon Vosburgh; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kelly Pitcher; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Ingrid Pitcher; daughter, Jennifer Pitcher; grandchildren, Steve, Dylan, Logan, Emily, Charlie and Henry; nieces and nephews, Christa, Robin, Marc and Anna.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Warren Pitcher; and aunt, Cora Meservey.
