Newell J. Keefe
NEWARK: Funeral services for Newell J. Keefe will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 6, 2014 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st Street, Newark, with Pastor Donald Moshgat presiding. Interment will follow at Jacksontown Cemetery with military honors rendered by Licking County Veterans Alliance. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 6:00 P.M.
Mr. Keefe, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Heath Nursing Care Center. He was born October 20, 1928 in Bryan, Ohio the son of Jesse and Janet (Schoolcraft) Keefe. Newell was retired from Rockwell International after 33 years of employment. He was very active in the community. He was a member of White Chapel Church and a former member of Licking Twp. Fire Department. He was a three-time past Master of Thornville Lodge #521 F&AM as well as belonging to St. Lukes Commandery Knights Templar, Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch, Grand Council, and Order of Eastern Star. Newell served with the U.S. Army
during the Korean War
and was a member of American Legion Post #85.
Newell is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Nina (Leslie) Keefe; sons Robert Keefe of Newark, Gregory Keefe of Lancaster, Chris (Alice) Keefe of Newark and Timothy (Sheri) Keefe of Ashville; daughter Laurie Keefe of Newark: grandchildren Robert Keefe, Andrew (Jennifer) Keefe, Amanda (Rob) Hill, Sarah Keefe and Rachel Keefe; great grandchildren Maya Keefe, Ashton Keefe, Alex Keefe and Lilly Hill; brothers Ted Keefe of Thornville and Max Keefe of Houston, TX; sisters Sandra Keyse of Newark and Sonya Crawford of Newark as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, his brother Jesse Keefe preceded Newell in death.
Memorial gifts, in Newell Keefe's name, may be made to White Chapel Church Charity Fund or Hospice of Central Ohio.
