Richard F. Little
GRANVILLE: A funeral service for Richard F. Little, 93, of Granville will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Richard passed away on January 29, 2013. He was born on February 20, 1919 to the late Harry Warren and Grace Catherine (Tousley) Little in Aurora, Ohio.
He is survived by his son, Harry Warren (Joanne Crim) Little; grandchildren: Sean (Nicole) Little, Aaron (Jessica) Little, and Erika Little; great-grandchildren: Brittany Little and Ashleigh and Jacob Kennedy. Mr. Little is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Myra (John) Porter and John Little of Massachusetts as well as Linda Conley of California and Howard Little of Michigan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Elizabeth Little, who passed away April 23, 2006; brothers, Warren Tousley (Irene) Little and Harry Hamden (Shirley) Little.
Richard was a graduate of Aurora High School in Northern Ohio and received his Bachelor's Degree from Miami University of Ohio. He was an Industrial Engineer working for several major corporations. Richard retired from Schuler Inc. in Columbus, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Army
in the South Pacific Campaign. He saw action at Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and the Phillipine Islands. Richard was one of the first American soldiers to reenter the city of Manilla while Japanese forces were attempting to burn the city. During his service in the Army he was awarded the Bronze Star
for heroism. He belonged to the American Legion Post 85 and Land of Legend Barbershop Chorus which was one of the joys of his life.
Richard and his wife enjoyed traveling and they visited most of the United States. He spent many hours in his last years enjoying the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Miami Redhawks from his alma mater. Richard always enjoyed spending time with his family who knew him as kind and gentle man.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, Ohio.
