NEWARK: A memorial service for Ruth E. Young will be held at 1PM, Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Central Christian Church, 587 Mt. Vernon Road, Newark, with Jeff Gill and Dennis Baker officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service.

Mrs. Young, 85, of Newark, died Sunday morning, November 24, 2013, from Alzheimer's disease at Sharonbrooke Assisted Living. She was born December 20, 1927, near St. Louisville, a daughter of the late James D. and Mable (Wilkin) Baker. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Capital University in music and was an organist for many area churches and funeral homes over the years. A member of Central Christian Church, she was the church organist and children's choir director for over three decades.

Surviving are two children, Daniel W. Young of Heath, Ruth Eileen (Tom) Weidemeyer of Mansfield; grandson, William Young of Florida; a brother Earl (June) Baker of Heath and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert Young; a grandson Blake Young in 2013; brothers, Ralph (Alice) Baker, Robert (Esther) Baker; and sisters, Sarah (Jake) Smith and Beatrice (Lou) Francis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association or the Columbus Affiliate of Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
