Shirley N. Whitefield
NEWARK: A memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley N. Whitefield, age 85, of Newark, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, at the Newark Church of the Nazarene, 200 South Williams Street, Newark, with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Wilson Cemetery.
Shirley passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). She was born March 21, 1928 in Michigan to the late Charles and Glenna (Milligan) Bury.
Shirley was employed in customer service and bookkeeping with Kaiser Aluminum, B & L Motor Freight and Ron Klein Buick. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Bridge, bowling, golfing and was an avid Buckeye fan.
She is survived by four children, Charles R. (Deborah) Whitefield of Newark, Shelly (Kevin) Bodi of Strongsville, Pam (Lee) Firich of Newark and Jamie (Fred) Hartman of Heath; grandchildren, Tracy, Tammy, Kenny, Kevin, Ainsley, Collin, Kaylee, Emily, Tyler and Jessie; ten great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul W. Whitefield; and by a sister, Betty Bender.
