Viola M. Jurden
NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Viola M. Jurden, 91, of Newark, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 14, 2013 with Msgr. Paul Enke celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Jurden, a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, died at the Flint Ridge Care & Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, February 9, 2013. She was born in Marietta, Ohio on August 25, 1921 to the late Earl C. and LaRabie (VanFossen) Miracle.
Viola worked for many years as a receptionist for the Licking County Commissioners Office. She was a member of the Eagles 387 REACT, Moose Lodge, Newark Druids, Lakeside Hills Garden Club of Florida, and a former parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Women's Council of Lakeland, Florida.
She is survived by her two sons, Donald E. (Roberta) Jurden and Gerald T. Jurden (Barbara Hammond), all of Newark; 6 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Miracle of Texas; her sister-in-law, Reola Miracle of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her son, John Patrick Jurden; her daughter-in-law, Marty Jurden; her grandson, Jeffrey A. Jurden; her brothers, Edward and Roy Miracle; and her sisters, Myrtle Willis and Bernice Nichols.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 3:45 P.M.
