Waldo L. "Walt" Patterson

THORNVILLE: Funeral services for Waldo L. "Walt" Patterson will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st Street, Newark. Interment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors rendered by Licking County Veterans Alliance. The family will receive friends and acquaintances beginning at 9:00 am Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Patterson, age 87 of Thornville, passed away on Saturday March 22, 2014 at Kindred Transitional Care, Newark. He was born February 28, 1927 in Perry County, Ohio the son of Clayton and Edith (Marsh) Patterson. He graduated from Somerset High School and served on the USS Mississippi as a signalman during WWII. He retired as a supervisor of Production Control from the Newark Air Force Base after 26 years of employment. He was also self-employed owning a flooring company. He was a member of the American Legion. His family remembers him as someone who loved his family, enjoyed golf, traveling to many different states, working in the yard and making lawn ornaments.

Walt is survived by his wife of 66 years Joan Patterson; son and daughter-in-law Barry and Jan Patterson of AL and daughter and son-in-law Cheri and Mike Miller of Newark; granddaughter Cindy Martin; great grand children Tyler Sullivan, Katelyn and Tritney Brewer and one great-great grandson Avery Sullivan as well as sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Paul Ortman and Virginia and Kenneth Rardain.

In addition to his parents; brothers Jim, Edwin and George; sister Ruth and a grandson Jason Miller preceded Walt in death.
