Lois Scroggins Obituary

Lois R. (Koshinski) Scroggins

HEATH: A funeral service for Lois Ruth Scroggins, 86, of Heath, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kristin Santiago officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Lois attended St. John's Lutheran School and was confirmed in 1941. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1945. She fondly shared, "It was the year we won the State Championship in Basketball, we graduated and we won the war!" She married Noble "Bob" Scroggins in 1954. They enjoyed fishing, family vacations and making crafts for local craft shows.

Lois loved her family, friends and church. She was proud to have been a Christian all of her life. She had been an active member of Christ Lutheran Church for decades. She enjoyed helping others through sewing lap quilts for nursing homes with her church's sewing group, making prayer shawls and working with Newborns in Need. She was happiest when she was making someone else's life a little easier. She was a very giving, caring and loving woman.

She often said that she was a "jack of all trades and a master of none." She worked at Osgood's Garment Factory during WWII and the Decatur Signal Depot after the war. She shared many stories about working at Houdaille Hershey trimming bumper guards, Macon County Hospital, Top Value Stamps, JC Penney's and Farm and Fleet. Her best "job" was being a wife and mom. She was known for making countless cookies at a moment's notice and putting together a costume for a play in a weekend. She was an awesome Mom and Grandma.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Carolyn) Scroggins, Dona (John) Lyle and Dawn (Paul) Turpin; grandchildren, Patrick Snoor, Ben (Tatiana) Scroggins, Caitlin (Matt) Yoak, Chase Scroggins and Lydia Scroggins; great-grandchildren, Noble Scroggins and Augustus Scroggins, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Noble "Bob" Scroggins, who passed away in 2005; brother, Roland "Bud" Koshinski and two dear cousins, David and Donnie Siweck.

"Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." Revelations 2:10.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Hospice of Central Ohio, or Shriner's Burn Institute.

How blessed I was to have Lois in my life for so long !!! Her life, her words, her faith, and her love for family always inspired and guided me. I know she is with Bob, Bud, David, her parents and my greatest comfort now is hearing her words to me that she would always look out for me.
All my love and prayers of comfort for Dan, Dona, Dawn, and the grandchildren during the difficult time, but I hope you can rejoice in the beautiful memories of you amazing Mother !!!
