Rev. A. Donald Collins Sr.

SPRINGFIELD: Rev. A. Donald Collins Sr., 85, of Springfield, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Springfield Masonic Community.

He was born August 3, 1927 in Celina, Ohio, the son of Adna D. and Ella (Fogt) Collins. Don was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country proudly. After the Army he graduated from Manchester College and Wesley Theological Seminary. He was a member of the West Ohio United Methodist Conference. He was a well loved pastor serving the following congregations in Ohio: Archbold, Johnstown, Lima, Upper Sandusky, Granville, Centerville and in retirement, Bradenton, Florida. Don was a 63 year member of Celina Masonic Lodge #241 and other Appendant Bodies. He attended Grace United Methodist Church since moving to Springfield and also the worship services on the Masonic campus.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary A. (Forrer) Collins; three children, Deborah E. (Chris) Agan of Newark, Ohio, A. Donald Jr. (Kay) Collins of Harpster, Ohio and Dayna S. (Stephen) Boone of Montabello, New York; two grandsons, Clayton (Shaunessa) Collins and David (Andrea) Agan; four great grandchildren, Quinten, Gavin, Jackson Collins and Isabella Agan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Collins and Jean Shaffer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 1-2 p.m. at the Burkhart Auditorium on the Masonic Campus, 2655 W. National Road, Springfield, Ohio with a celebration of Don's life starting at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Vincent and Rev. Victoria C. Downing officiating.
