NEWARK: A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty L. Camp, 72, of Newark, formerly Granville, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the Fireside Room at Spring Hills Baptist Church, 1820 Newark Granville Road, Granville with Pastor Gary W. Kirkpatrick as celebrant. Burial will follow at Union Evangelical Cemetery in Baltimore.
Betty passed away, Friday, January 14, 2011 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. She was born November 25, 1938, in Newark, to the late O. Francis and Mabel Esther (Richards) James.
A 1956 graduate of Granville High School, Betty retired as a secretary from DCSC. She also worked at the Newark Air Force Base, Oasis Water (previously Epco), Sears and Roebuck, and Longaberger. For many years, she also worked as a nurse assistant.
Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles, and cooking family dinners. She loved her family gatherings for the holidays, especially Christmas. In her earlier years, she enjoyed square dancing, and it was at that time she met her future husband, Ken. It was love at first sight.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Camp of Newark; sons and daughters-in-law, K. Douglas and Suzette Camp of Reynoldsburg, and Kurt and Tammy Camp of Newark; daughters and son-in-law, Lynne Jones and Raymundo Marfil of Burleson, TX, Pamela Cetin of Columbus, and Julie Duff of Newark; grandchildren, Joshua, Shawn, Amarae, Zachery, Sarah, Nicholas, Tabitha, Richard, Shanta, James, Jimmie, Ray, and Erica; sisters, Ruth Burgoon and Lois Cujas both of Granville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Richard James; and sister, Mary Margaret Nash.
