Mr. Wingate, age 80, passed in peace on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his home. He was born June 29, 1932 in North Tazewell, Virginia to his parents William B. and Claire M. (Spurgeon) Wingate. Billy retired from Rockwell International in 1985 after 25 years of employment. While with Rockwell he was a machinist and union official with the U.A.W. He served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Jersey Baptist Church where he was Chairman of Ushers for 20 years. He was also a member of New Home Lodge #338 F.&A.M. and the Buckeye Sheriff's Association.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Ramona A. (Goins) Wingate; daughter Myra L. (Bob) Vogel of Newark, son Grady L. "Skip" (Amy) Blessard of Granville, daughter Reda K. (Dave) Robertson of Heath and son Stephen B. (Janice) Wingate of Newark; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Shirley Wingate.

Billy will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a devout Christian, beloved husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great grandfather. Billy loved to share the gospel and rarely neglected the opportunity to witness for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, wherever he went. He believed at death the physical body returns to dust and the soul of the believer is welcomed into heaven.

In addition to his parents, son Billy Wingate Jr. (2005), daughter Sharon Wright (2008) and brother Earl Wingate preceded Billy in death.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in Billy's name to Hospice of Central Ohio in lieu of flowers.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Licking Memorial Hospital, as well as the staff and nurses of Hospice of Central Ohio for their tender and attentive care.
