Carl Lee Stewart, Sr.
NEWARK: A funeral service for Carl Lee Stewart, Sr., 80 of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Myers officiating.
Carl left this earth on his own terms on August 17, 2012, at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, although he did not have cancer. He was born June 17, 1994, in Owensboro, KY, to the late Troy and Annia (Evitts) Stewart. He would have been 19 in June.
He spent many great years in the Newark Fire Department where he made many lifelong friends. He often reflected fondly on his years as a Newark High School football coach as well as his time serving his country in the U.S. Navy. Never one to turn down an adventure or refuse someone in need, he will be deeply missed by many. Come join us and share stories of one of the great storytellers.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Lola (Chuck) Paullin, Mary (Bill) Fulton, and Carla and Annia Stewart; several grandchildren, and two-great-grandchildren he adored.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his children, Carl and Karen, and his brothers, Bill, Troy and Diz.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday two hours prior to the funeral, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caligiuri Cancer Lab, 300 W. 10th Ave. Suite 519, Columbus, Ohio 43210.
