Charles E. "Chuck" Wasson

FRAZEYSBURG: Charles E. "Chuck" Wasson, 82, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Saturday evening, November 17, 2012 at Forest View Health Campus in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born August 7, 1930 in Willard, Ohio he was a son of the late Ernest G. and Leona A. (Dean) Wasson Giles and was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Wasson owned and operated the Gulf Service Station in Frazeysburg for 27 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church and a member and past president of Frazeysburg Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award in 1989-1990 and was Lion of the Year in 1995-1996. He was as a 50 year member of Frazeysburg Lodge #490, F. & A. M., Wakatomika Veterans Club of Frazeysburg, American Legion Post #888 of Delaware, Ohio, New-Ark Emmaus Community of Newark, Ohio and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Frazeysburg Jaycee's and the Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Wasson received a Volunteer Award from Tri-Valley Schools for his 27 years of service as a crossing guard in Frazeysburg.

The Wasson family would like to express a deep gratitude to the staff and "family" of Forest View Heath Campus for the loving care and compassion extended to Chuck and his family.

Surviving is his wife of nearly 60 years, Naomi J. (Power) Wasson whom he married December 7, 1952; one son, Eric (Dawn) Wasson of Nashport, Ohio; three daughters, Sarah L. (Jerry) Anderson of Beaufort, South Carolina, Melissa G. (Jim) Shumaker of Newark, and Stephanie A. (David) McGrath of Delaware, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, James E. (Patricia) Wasson of Hilton Head, South Carolina; one sister, Mabel Lohr of Willard, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Matthew Wasson; a grandson, Jason Charles Anderson; a sister Margaret Stroup, two brothers in-law, Irvin Lohr and Paul Stroup and his step father, Virgil Giles, Sr.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Following calling hours Frazeysburg Lodge #490 will conduct Masonic services.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Belt and the Rev. Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery with Wakatomika Post # 6193, VFW conducting military honors.
