NEWARK: Funeral services for Doris "Dottie" Rauck, 86, of Newark, will be held at the REED EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 16, 2013 with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Dottie died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 11, 2013. She was born in Swinton, Yorkshire, England on February 2, 1927, one of 7 children to the late William and Gertrude (Collison) Kemp.

During World War II "Dot" left home at the age of 16 to perform national service in the British Women's Land Army. She saw duty at Shelley Hall in Suffolk, England as well as in London where she helped people into the air-raid shelters during the Nazi bombings. She met and married an American soldier and immigrated to the United States, Newark, Ohio, as a "war bride" in 1946. Dottie later became a naturalized citizen who strongly believed in the honor and duty of voting in every election.

During her son's early years she was active at St Francis de Sales School including "duty" as a Cub Scout den mother. Dottie later met and married Raymond Rauck (m. 1969) and she lived, until recently, at their beloved home on Buckeye Lake near Thornport.

She enjoyed baking, crocheting and knitting, and was an avid reader. Her favorite specialties were her hot pepper butter and English trifle.

Dottie, a wonderful and dearly loved mom, is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Carolyn Kelly; her daughters, Sue Rauck Willis and Judy and Bruce Wilson, all of Newark; her grandchildren and their spouses, Colleen Kelly (Kent) Martini, Erin Kelly (Warren) Simpson, Todd (Renee) Willis, Bonnie Patrick & Julio Morales and Tammy (John) Gardner, 11 great-grandchildren, Svea, Karis, Colin, Kasey, Mitch, Nick, Nate, Allison, Chelsea, Brandi, and Brandon; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in England and the U.S.

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Rauck; her brothers, William, Herbert, and George Kemp; and her sisters Alice Kemp, Ethel Shergold and Miriam Godwin.

Friends and may family may call at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, May 15, 2013.

Memorials in honor of Dottie may be made to the Newark Catholic Foundation, 1 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Ohio 43055.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Mark Stickle, Renee Willis, and the staff and friends at Autumn Healthcare who offered Dottie much support and love during her illness.
