NEWARK: A funeral service for Earl Allen Glassburn, age 79, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Rev. Dorsel Messick officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Glassburn passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Selma Markowitz Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born June 25, 1933 in Bidwell, Ohio to late Stanley Judson and Gladys Gay (Lane) Glassburn.

Earl was a supervisor in the wool factory at Owens Corning for 22 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed stock car racing, watching football, especially the Cleveland Browns, fishing, gardening and canning. He adored Blue Grass Music. He was a member of Angels in Action and the Old Country Church. His greatest love was his family and will be remembered for always telling jokes and making people laugh.

He is survived by his children, Ruth (Rick) Cannon of Hanover, Tim (Terri) Glassburn of Hanover, Dwayne "Bink" Glassburn of Newark, Jenny Lynn of Marysville, Judy and Kathy of Mechanicsburg and Tony, Jerry and Eddie of Mechanicsburg; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted (Barb) Glassburn, Marty (Rhonda) Glassburn and Roger (Carol) Glassburn; and sisters, Lola (Fred) Martin and Jeannie (Bill) Tullis.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet (Lehman) Glassburn in 2005; and by siblings, Donald, Libby, Mary and Jenny.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
