Elizabeth A. Kimmel

NEW SALEM: Elizabeth A. Kimmel, age 58, of New Salem, died August 2nd, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born on September 18, 1953 in Lancaster, to her parents Joseph and Zillah Landon Kinser. She was a medical specialist serving overseas in the U.S. Army. She worked as a case manager for people with special needs. She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family and also to all people with disabilities.

She is survived by her son, Nathaniel Kimmel and his life partner and her son-in-law, Cole Berg Holland, both of New Salem; daughter-in-law, Candy Ann Kimmel of Baltimore; grandchildren, Taylor Marie Canter and Drew Michael Smith, both of Baltimore; brothers, Joseph (Barbara) Kinser of Newark, Bruce (Roslyn) Kinser of New York, John (Irene) Kinser of Williamsville, Timothy (Beverly) Kinser of New Salem, and Paul (Teresa) Kinser of New Salem; sister, Shirley (Cloyd) Moyer of New Lexington; sister-in-law, Cynthia Kinser of New Salem; many nieces and nephews; ex-husband, Robert Van Kimmel; and best friends, Rosalind (Lloyd) Beswick and Cheryl Cannon, amongst many others.

She was preceded in death by her son, Sgt. Robert Joseph Kimmel; brothers, William and James Kinser; and parents Joseph and Zillah Landon Kinser.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Baltimore, officiated by Pastor Rosalind Beswick. Burial will follow the service at the Methodist Protestant Cemetery in New Salem. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 - 4 P.M. and 6 - 8 P.M. and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Online condolences can be made at www.funeralhome.com.
