Evelyn Eileen Winter

MOUNT VERNON: Evelyn Eileen Winter, age 77, of Mount Vernon, went to our Maker on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

She was born on November 24, 1934 in Newark, Ohio to Joseph Rey and Dorothy (West) Rey Enders. Evelyn was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Newark, Ohio and married her loving and loyal husband Fred Winter on September 21, 1956 at the same church she was baptized in.

Evelyn served as past president of the Knox and Licking Counties Genealogy Society. She enjoyed reading and was a past member of the Child Conservation League. Evelyn was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and was a loving and compassionate wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.

She is survived by her husband, her children, Jeanne (Don) Burkam Armstrong of Mount Vernon, Charles Winter Jr. of Mount Vernon and Johanna (Bill) Harper of Frazeysburg; ten grandchildren, Benjamin (Carolyn) Burkam, Adam J.F. Burkam, Jared (Kirsten) Burkam, Nickolas Winter-Burkam, Emily Burkam, Amanda (James) Covey, Rachel Winter, Franklin Winter, Ashley Harper and Jake Harper; three great grandchildren, Isabella Burkam, Benjamin Burkam and Elizabeth Covey; her mother; two sisters, Judith (Jan) Hanson of Capitola, California and Linda Enders Holcombe of Newark.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Rey; and her step father, William Enders.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery near Newark, Ohio.
