NEWARK: A memorial service for Fred Z. Prouty, 77, of Newark will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Marne United Methodist Church, 1019 Licking Valley Rd., Newark, OH with Pastor Ben Foulk officiating.

Mr. Prouty passed away on September 28, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Center. He was born on March 19, 1936 to the late Clyde and Mabel (Long) Prouty in Muskingum County, OH.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda (Jones) Prouty; son, Don (Melissa) Prouty; grandchildren, Jenna and Eric Prouty; brothers, Charles (Martha) Prouty and Homer (Norma) Prouty; and sister, Gladys (John) Gale.

Fred was a member and usher at the Marne United Methodist Church, Neal Ave. Men's Breakfast Club (Hot Air Club), Tuesday and Friday Men's Breakfast Club and the Newark Maennerchor. He was also a volunteer at the Food Pantry.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, sports and watching old movies.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, OH.
