NEWARK: Graveside services for Rose Irene Dickerson, 94 of Newark will be held Monday December 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Dickerson, the last of her immediate family, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born September 5, 1918 in Hanover to the late John and Rosa (Gaunt) Mills.
She retired in 1982 as a deputy clerk in the Licking County Common Pleas Court, Clerk of Courts division with 25 years of service. She was a 1936 graduate of Hanover High School and was a member of the All County Championship Basketball Team in 1936. She was a graduate of the Newark College of Commerce. She was a former member of the Woodside Presbyterian Church.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two children, Jack Dickerson of Nashport, Kathryn Trager of Newark; grandsons, William Shannon, Jr., Michael Shannon; great-grandchildren, Brandon Shannon, Colin Shannon, Brianna Shannon; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Mills, Magdalene Johnson, Pauline Hall, June Robinson, Lois Jones; brothers, Glenn "Pete" Mills, Gerald Mills; former husband Willis "Ed" Dickerson.
No calling hours will be observed.
