James A. Lee
NEWARK: A funeral service for James A. Lee, age 80, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 9, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Michael R. Lee officiating. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Lee was born May 13, 1932 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Fletcher and Emma (Staggs) Lee. He passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Newark.
Mr. Lee was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served a four year apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. Mr. Lee was an accomplished string musician and dedicated Christian, participating in mission trips to South America, Mexico and Canada. He traveled and sang at conferences, camp meetings and church functions in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky and was a Gosepl singer with the "Singing Lee Family". Mr. Lee was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Pataskala.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Modie J. (Buckler) Lee; sons, Pastor Michael R. (Kathy) Lee of Newark, John (Lori) Lee of Utica and Tim (Annette) Lee of Blountville, Tenneessee; daughter, Valerie (Mark) Belcher of Newark; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul David Lee of Biloxi, Mississippi and Gary Lee of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Alfred Lee; and by his step-mother, Ludie Lee.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
