DECATUR, IL: James Thomas Painter, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on January 1, 2017 in Decatur, Illinois. Jim was born September 5, to the late Howard and Grace (Leona) Painter in Johnstown, Ohio. He graduated from Lakewood High School and worked the majority of his career in the hazardous material transportation industry. Jim was looking forward to traveling, golfing, and relaxing with friends as he retired. He loved the life he built with Lynda, his family and his beloved canine, Snoopy. Jim enjoyed golfing, his golf league teammates, sports, Ohio State football, and riding his Harley Davidson, a special birthday gift. He is survived by the love of his life of twenty-four years, Lynda Davis; son, Jeff T. (Wendy) Painter of Hebron; step-son, Bryce R. (Sarah) Davis of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Brooke M. Davis, Hunter L. Davis, Megan Braford, (daughter of Todd Painter); sister, Margaret (Virgil) Morgan of Newark; brothers, Curt (Geri) Painter of Hebron, Roland "Pappy" (Shirley) of Newark, Phil (Jo) Painter of Frazeysburg, Bill Painter of Georgia; sister-in-law, Sharon Painter of Newark, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Todd H. Painter; brothers, John and Richard Painter; and his beloved canine, Snoopy. Jim's bright smile, kind heart, sense of humor will be sadly missed by all, none more than Lynda. We appreciate all the love and support from family and friends at this difficult time. A visitation will be held on SATURDAY, January 7, 2017, from 10-12Noon at the PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, Reynoldsburg, where his Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12Noon by Pastor Dan Clark officiating.
