Jeanne S. Blake

NEWARK: Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanne S. Blake, 74,

of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 with Fr. Bob Penhallurick and Fr. Dean Mathewson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Jeanne died at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, January 10, 2011. She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 10, 1936, to the late Jack and Helena (Mailhot) Baptista.

Jeanne was truly a woman of devout faith. As a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Jeanne has served on many ministries over the years, including the Ministry of Comfort, Eucharistic Adoration, Eucharistic Minister, and Parish Council. She was also a longtime member of the Fruit of the Vine Prayer Group, and People of God's Love Community.

Blessed with the talent of sewing, Jeanne was a beautiful seamstress and continually shared this talent with those in need. Over the years, Jeanne has made approximately 1000 blankets for nursing home patients, and as a member of Newborns in Need, she has donated many special items for God's littlest.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald Blake, of the home. She felt very blessed to have celebrated 50 years of marriage with Don, and loved to visit the lake house he purchased as a token of their many years together, and the 13 children that the two of them have always considered God's greatest gifts. They are Billy Gagne; Gail Gagne and son, Nathan (Amanda) Nguyen; Michael (Bonnie) Blake, and children, Tammy (Ryan) Bagent and children Kristen, MacKenzie, and Paige (Josh) Allen, Stephanie (Jason) Snedden and children Madison, Hailey, and Allisa, and Michael Rene Parrish and daughter Sierra; Elaine (Chris) Post and children, David (Sheena), and Jessie; Tim and Marsha Blake and children, Tim Jr. (Kimberly) Blake, Tommy Romine and daughter, Cidney, and Erika Blake; Colleen (Paul) Knoefel, and children Sonya, Blake, Nick, Jeanne, Ethan, Paul Vinny, Anna, Gabriella, Emma, Kate Ann, and Bradley; Susan (Tracy) Trickett, and daughter, Sister Philomena Marie (Children of Mary); Sean (Patricia) Blake; Kenneth (Barbara) Blake and children, Becca, Brook, Seth, and Shawna; Kimberly (Mark) Luckeydoo and daughter Kyla Blake; Amanda VanKirk and children, Adrianna and Jeffrey VanKirk; Angel Blake; and Chase Blake. Survivors also include Jeanne's sister and brother-in-law, June and Henry Cosmini; her very special niece, Celeste; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Always a devoted mother, Jeanne's love extended beyond her own family, and together with Don, she fostered 108 children in her home. If able, Jeanne would have kept every child that came into her home, but since she couldn't, she always conveyed her love, help, and prayers.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her infant sister, Dorothy.

Friends and family may call from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark. The Children of Mary will lead a Rosary at 2 p.m., and a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
