Joseph S. Gatten

NEWARK: A memorial service for Joseph S. Gatten will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 701 Linnville Road, Heath, Ohio.

Mr. Gatten, age 92, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Heath Nursing Care Center. He was born May 20, 1920 in Licking County, Ohio to parents Joseph and Verna Belle (Stevens) Gatten. Joseph retired in June of 1980 from the State of Ohio - Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He served during WWII with the U.S. Army, 874th Air Bourne Engineers and saw action in the S.W. Pacific Theatre, New Guinea and the Philippians Islands. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Heath.

Joseph is survived by his wife Clare Ann (Bringardner) Gatten; step children Mark, Cheryl, Denise and foster daughter Elizabeth; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, three brothers and four sisters preceded Joseph in death.
