NEWARK: A homegoing service for Josiephine Stallworth, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington Street, Newark, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble and Pastor Gus Andrews will officiate. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Stallworth passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Kobacker House Hospice. She was born October 12, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Lomas and Louginia (Watson) Simmons.
Mrs. Stallworth was a 1970 graduate of Newark High School. She retired from the Central Trust Co. and had also been employed as a nutrition aide for many years at the Cooperative Extension Office. She had worked for several years at the Newark Air Force Base, as a cook at The Eatery and had cleaned at Martin Music. She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was a former member of the Licking Valley Church of Christ. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Salvation Army and was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America.
Mrs. Stallworth loved working on the computer and composed the newsletter each month at Sharon Glyn Senior Apartments where she resided. She loved to sew and make quilts, loved being around people and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly A. Irwin (J.C.) Finklea of Newark; son, Ronald O. King, Sr. (fiancée, Brenda) of Newark; grandchildren, Ronald O. (Kelli) King, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Ryan D. (Erika) Miller of Heath, Heather (Ryan) Miller of Holmes County, Bridget King-Sherman (fiancé, Kevin) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, J.C. Finklea II, Charles Finklea and Aaron Finklea, all of Newark; great-grandchildren, Kailee Finklea, Te'von Sherman, Kaiyin Sherman-Pearl, Jaymes King, Kyla King, Treyton Miller and Tylar Miller; a sister, Helen Pleas of Nashville, Tenn.; nieces and nephews; former husband, Charles Irwin of Heath; Tara, Tia and Anijha Hampton and Kiera Khun; and the Keith family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry D. Stallworth, Sr.; a son, Donald L. Irwin; four brothers and three sisters.
